Topic Three: Research Assignment #1

I definitely prefer Durer's woodcut over Burgkmair's. The presence of the "hornlet" is really fascinating, as well as the scales along the feet. Durer's layering of the armor is also much more unique than the lack of layers found in the other depictions. The linework on Durer's woodcut is much clearer when it comes to shading and showing the individual details in the gandas face.

I found Francois Leguat's depiction to be the most amusing because of the story behind it and the positioning of all the flawed drawings beside each other. I think his depiction really told the whole story of people drawing rhinoceros for so long without even knowing exactly how far off their pieces were from the real thing. It also made me notice that the copies are in the exact same pose and style as Durer's, not only the design.
